Usually, I take the whole summer break off. It’s something I started when my daughter began school, so I wouldn’t have to be absent for her mentally and emotionally, even if I was still there physically.
While I skipped a newsletter in these summer holidays just past, I didn’t let go of the rest of my work as much as normal. It was mostly because of the release of the 100 Free Prompts. If I was around for their release - even though my assistant scheduled them - then I may as well keep on working, right?
I attended to admin, declined invitations, considered others, crafted ideas for a particular opportunity I’m accepting, and researched new tech programs to support other ideas. There was still more space than normal, but I arrived at the end of the holidays and the start of my working year exhausted instead of refreshed. The back-to-back heatwaves likely didn’t help either.
I’m usually great at managing my energy and am kind enough to myself to recognise where I slipped up and what’s needed. I just hadn’t factored in just how much of a difference having January off for summer makes.
Our hearts create habits to support us.
That was one of mine.
So, what is needed now is for things to wait.
I can’t throw myself into the new year without a proper pause.
It’s important to know yourself well, recognise the mistakes (and we all make them and expect too much of ourselves at times), and readjust.
The exhaustion has been a good wake-up call: I don’t want to be energetic in summer. I’m most active and happy in the cold-weather. Next summer will absolutely include more rest again.
The projects I was about to throw myself into have to wait. It’s as simple as that.
We can solider on out of fear but I’d be more scared of pushing myself too far and paying for those consequences, rather than missing out on something that didn’t want to wait.
Each time we’re brave enough to let go and gift ourselves some time, we also open the portal for life to help a little more.
Doing nothing sometimes takes a lot of courage.
I’m grateful I have that.
I hope you do too.
With love,
Bronnie.
PS. Thanks to those of you who have connected with the 100 Daily Prompts for No Regrets. It’s a big commitment to take on, particularly when they’re free. You have no money to lose. But there is plenty more to lose in life than money and these prompts help you recognise those gifts, like presence, wonder, self-kindness and more.
Thanks for the feedback too - always much appreciated.
Here’s a little of it:
I listen to them every morning and they help so much.
Very, very beautiful. I love your videos.

I intend to go back on them and find my way again . Bless you Bronnie . 💚
So good. And... synchronicity! Yesterday my body voiced a very subtle whisper, asking me to listen and postpone a one-woman-show rehearsal today, OR a sore throat would greet me this morning. I listened, rested, postponed the meeting and Voi-la! Woke up as well as can be, feeling revitalized overnight! Bodies are impeccable communicators. We simply need to listen and TRUST, all is well. Thanks for your beauteous shares, Bronnie!
