Choosing Slow in a World Gone Mad
A reflection on resilience, rest, and returning to soul truth
The world’s a mess. Let’s face it. We have too many men in power in dominant countries who display no sense of humanity for others, no care for the planet that we all need to survive on, no regard for other living beings, and whose focus is based entirely on fear and ego. That is, how they will look if they change direction and admit their mistakes.
I’m tired. I’m exhausted by the state of the world.
My energy needs restoration more regularly than it used to.
I don’t only want this wilderness I call home. I need it.
Nature is the greatest restorer for us all.
Are you tired too? Is your heart weary?
I hear you and feel you, if so.
We can focus on the beauty, sure. Nature’s beauty is a balm that always gets me through. A few days away to hang out with some dear friends has also just helped.
I take breaks from the news and social media regularly, but then I also want to be aware of small wins for our planet so tune back in again. I use my voice in protest against governmental environmental policies that prioritise capitalism and consumerism over survival and reverence for our living home.
I want to be active but I also want to live peacefully.
All of us who are tuned in to the state of the world also need to rest or step away from the madness sometimes.
And it is indeed that: Madness.
No other species destroys the place that their very survival depends upon, all for the sake of more junk that will ultimately end up as landfill anyway.
Thanks for understanding that I’m not capable of regular newsletters at this time in my life and in the world. There is enough noise out there already.
Please also know, though, that when I am here, I am fully here with an open and loving heart, focused on the things that truly matter, including the beauty.
I don’t want to only focus on the good in the world, though, when we’re in a massive and critical time of change for the evolution of humanity. We have to be real about it.
All of us have the capacity of choosing a different way forward in this changing world.
Choice is one of the only true forms of power we have.
We have to use it well.
None of us can guarantee the lessons that come to us individually - though we can certainly trust that they come from a place of love to bring us into the most evolved version of ourselves, to reconnect us with what really matters to our soul.
But, we can choose our life forward through every tiny and large choice we make on a daily basis.
I choose to live more slowly than ever before, even though living slowly can come with risk, including financial and social. But it is the only way my heart calls for these days. It’s the only way my soul is capable of for my remaining existence on this planet. I want to notice the daily miracles and live gently on every level.
Nothing else in nature rushes all the time. Nature knows to rest and that rushing is unsustainable.
Nothing else in nature abuses the planet we need to survive on, all so it can look a certain way in front of others, so it can find some sort of weird and temporary validation.
Living within our sustainable means is essential for moving forward. It doesn’t mean letting go of dreams, but tending to them in ways that honour both our well-being and the planet. The heart knows best what that is.
If your heart is calling you to slow down and choose a new direction, I wish you strength. It’s a step-by-step process but one we will all face in one way or another in this era of humanity.
Life asks a lot of us, but it also gifts us with immense power through the choices we make.
An overseas trip I took for my work not long ago was the final turning point for me. I’d felt change coming for a long while and had been growing into that. But now, there is no choice but to follow my heart and live even more slowly, more gently.
This is not a sacrifice.
It is a homecoming to my soul.
It is where deep peace resides and awaits us all.
I wish the same for you, to take the steps necessary for your own homecoming, to whatever life your soul is calling you to.
With love,
Bronnie.
PS. It is with much pleasure that I share the newest episode of my vlog with you. Episode 45 is titled, Back Where I Belong: Returning to Slow Living in the Wilderness. There is much beauty in it to nurture your heart and nervous system, some reflections and philosophies, plenty of wildlife and of course, flowers, which I consider a part of God’s language of love for us all. Make a cuppa, step away from the frantic pace and energy of the planet for about 24 minutes, and join me there.

So peaceful. Thank youx
How I love your vlogs, Bronnie! Thank you for sharing.
